Creative Skate Video: ‘Peter Brings the Shadow to Life’ by Joe Pease

Here’s an hypnotic video of a skater’s shadow from cinematographer, Joe Pease. This mesmerising shadow theatre was shot using just sunlight, a skateboard, and a camera.

The unknown skater is not Peter. The title actually comes from an essay on shadow symbolism in Peter Pan:

It is not uncommon for children to play with their shadows or to imagine that they are tangible. However, in order to grow up, children must leave behind this fantasy…no one ever fully grows up. Instead, growing up is a process that continues throughout life. Because the adult figures in Peter Pan do not understand the reality of a shadow, it becomes the audience’s responsibility to do so.

Soothing music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, from “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.”

I was never here. We never met. This never happened.
